About the Photographer
Alicia Dickerson is a trained photographer available for weddings & family/senior/child portraits. Her studio is located in the historic Alameda district of Portland. She enjoys making photographs both in the studio and on location. Her wedding work is a blend of photojournalism and creative portraiture. Her portraits are relaxed, yet classic works of art. Alicia grew up in a family of artists surrounded by photography, painting, sculpture and stained glass. As a child she remembers adventures with her dad on weekends to take photos of anything interesting: old barns, nature, city lights. In college she received degrees in both Environmental Studies and Physical Anthropology. She went on to work with both children and adults in the field of outdoor education. Throughout all her adventures, she photographed everything. When she decided to pursue photography as a career, she received her formal training from the Rocky Mountain School of Photography in Montana. Her work reflects her background and sensitivity to both people and nature. Alicia continues her professional development as a member of the Professional Photographers of America and the Portland Metropolitan Photographers Association. In addition to her portrait and wedding work, Alicia's photographs were recently published in two books. "The Growing Classroom" is a book that documents children in educational school gardens. "Treat Your Man Like a Dog...and Live Happily Ever After" is a whimsical take on relationships. She greatly enjoys living in Portland, Oregon.
