About Alicia

I grew up in a family of artists surrounded by photography, painting, architecture, sculpture and stained glass. As a child I remember adventures with my dad to take photos of old barns, streams and city lights. And after school I would sit near my mom at my own artist's desk to explore with paint while she created watercolor masterpieces.

Today, my primary medium to create art is photography. My blended style has been described as photojournalistic, editorial and natural. I adore the real spontaneous moments that happen between people. Using the best possible equipment- including three pro cameras, seven lenses, studio lighting and location lighting-I aim to skillfully document events and emotions. Your images will not only tell a story, but will also be timeless works of art.

My work has been published in Portland Bride and Groom Magazine, Oregon Bride and three books.

I received my formal schooling from the University of California, Santa Cruz and The Rocky Mountain School of Photography. After college, I spent years teaching environmental education. This passion for the outdoors is always reflected in my photography as I enjoy finding unique outdoor settings to photograph people, either in nature or the urban landscape. I continue my lifelong study of the art of photography through memberships in Professional Photographers of America and the Portland Metropolitan Photographers Association.

I have been taking photos ever since I can remember, but Alicia Dickerson Photography officially began in 2004. I primarily photograph weddings in Oregon, but also like to travel and have captured nuptials in Florida, Vermont, New York, Washington and California.

After photographing hundreds of weddings, I now limit them to just a dozen per year. This ensures that you will have my full energy and creative talents on one of the most important days of your life.

In addition to wedding photography, I offer both location and studio sessions year-round. I have a full working studio in Portland, Oregon and enjoy photographing families, children, high school seniors and animals.
